Regular Warmup

T-Rex/Turtle Rule

Player A

Player A is on top, trying to stay in side control and stay on top. Your trying to hold your partner down flat on the mat as long as possible.

Player B

Player B, your objective is to use your hands and legs to get your back off the mat. So, get on your side or up to your knees. You’re a turtle stuck on your back and you’re trying to flip back over.

Win Condition(s)

If Player B gets their back off the back, switch.

High Leg/Low Leg

Player A

Player A is on the bottom, in side control, trying to get their feet back in the way. So, the knee and elbow are together.

Player B

Player B.

  • White Belt: Just hold your partner down.
  • Grey Belt: Try to get a farside underhook and connect your hands.
  • Yellow Belt+: Try to get double underhooks.

Win Condition(s)

If Player A gets both of their feet on the hips or feet on the inside, switch top and bottom.

Topsy Turvy

Player A

Player A starts on the bottom side control, on their side. Trying to recover guard, so feet back in the way, knees in hips, OR get on top.

Player B

Player B is on top in side control. Move to the mount or to the back. If you’re a grey belt or higher, getting the mount or back isn’t enough. If you’re in the mount, you have to secure an Americana. Just get your hands locked. If you’re on the back, wrap your arm around the neck, going for an RNC.

Win Condition(s)

Switch if Player A recovers guard or gets on top. Switch if Player B gets to mount/back, or if they’re a grey belt or higher, get an Americana from mount or RNC from back.
