Perseverance
Proud of everyone. Keep working hard. Don’t give up. If you get submitted, get back up and keep going.
Hands on Partner
Player A
We’re gonna play a game. You’re not allowed to try to open the guard. You can’t stand up. The person on top is trying to stop the person in guard from winning. To do that, you need to do two things.
- Stay upright. So, don’t fall over.
- Keep your hands on them, on the same side of the body.
Player B
The bottom person, who has closed guard, has to either get their arm across (and chest on their elbow) OR get their partner’s hands on the mat and hold them there. You’re not allowed to open your feet.
Win Condition(s)
To win, the bottom person is trying to get the arm across or hands to the mat as many times as possible. Keep count of how many times you get that. The top person is trying to stop the person who has guard. Then we’re going to switch, and the other person gets to try from the bottom to get points. At the end, the loser has to do 10 burpees.
Hands on Partner (Standing)
Player A
For this game, the person on top, in guard, can actually win points too. You still have to stay upright and not fall over, and keep your hands on them, on the same side of your body. However, you can win if you:
- Get your hands to their armpits, thumbs pointing up.
- Can get up to both feet.
Player B
The bottom person, who has closed guard, has to either get their arm across (and chest on their elbow) OR get their partner’s hands on the mat and hold them there. You’re not allowed to open your feet. Same as before.
Win Condition(s)
To win, the bottom person is trying to get the arm across or hands to the mat as many times as possible. The top person is trying to get to their feet. If you get to both feet and can stay there for three seconds, you get a point. Then we’ll switch it. At the end, the loser has to do 10 burpees.
Hands on Partner (Breaking/Sweeping)
Player A
For this game, the person on top, in guard, can actually win points too. You still have to stay upright and not fall over, and keep your hands on them, on the same side of your body. You also still have to get your hands to their armpits, thumbs pointing up, and get up to both feet. But, to get a point now, you have to:
- Pop open their feet.
- Get your knee up in the middle.
Player B
The bottom person, who has closed guard, has to either get their arm across (and chest on their elbow) OR get their partner’s hands on the mat and hold them there. You’re not allowed to open your feet. Same as before. Except, you don’t get points for doing that now. Once you do that, you have to make your partner fall onto their hip, onto their bottom, or onto their back; that’s a point.
