Player A

Both players are looking to get hands connected under the elbows or around a leg. Hold for 3 seconds and then reset.

Player B

Win Condition(s)

2

3-Touch Switch

Player A

Player A starts standing. You must touch the outside of the guarded player’s body 3 times, anywhere from the foot to the head, with your leg or shin. You must alternate. After the 3rd touch, you win by connecting your hands around the torso.

Player B

Player B, you are lying on your back. Prevent the touches, and look to either a) get your opponent’s hip/butt/back to touch the mat or b) wrestle up with a connection, so a grip on something.

Win Condition(s)

If Player A gets 3 touches and hands connected, switch top and bottom. If Player B gets hip/butt/back to the mat or wrestles up with a connection, switch top and bottom.

3

Holding the Flank

Player A

Player A is standing and must hold down Player B, while remaining outside of the legs. You are not allowed to go chest-to-chest or put your knees down. Use your hips and footwork to stay outside.

Player B

Player B, either re-establish guard (feet in between), come all the way back up to seated, or make the top players’ hips/butt/back to hit the floor.

J-Point Camping to Scoop Pass

  1. Looking to pass on the outside OR to cause my opponent to react in such a way that I can get to their hips, in order to finish the pass.

  2. Get our hand to the hip, with good control, with our elbow on their outside leg. Looking to get our foot around and into the crook of their ankle.

  3. Cross grip with four fingers to stop the leg pummels. Ideally, we’d bring our head down here and finish the pass with a knee on the belly or circling to N/S. One way they can recover and stop us is to high-leg.

  4. From here, I’m going to switch my hands. My hand on the shin is going to cup the hip, and my hand on the hip is going to pin his bottom foot. From here, I’m leaning my head toward his head for heavy pressure. Then I’m going to drive my close knee up and over, and come around the corner. As you turn the corner, you have two options, based on what they give you. If they turn away, like they’re going to get up to their knees, I just hug their knee close. If they turn toward me to try to guard, I push their bottom hip away.

2

Outside Passing to Double Over

  1. If we go outside to pass, and they don’t high-leg, another thing they can do is use their knee and bring their knee in to create space. To stop this, we’re going to scoop up their hips, much like we were doing last week with our headquarters position. We’re going to drop our shoulder, wrap their legs, and walk their legs away.

  2. Like last week, whatever side of my body he’s framing, I’m going to switch to the opposite. So, if he doesn’t frame on anything, I’m just going to move up the body and finish the pass. If he frames fully on this side, I’m going to switch my head and shoulder and finish the pass.
