Warm-up

1

Upper/Lower

Player A

Player A is the upper. The upper is looking for double unders.

Player B

Player B is the lower. Player B is looking for hands connected around a leg and the leg off of the mat.

Win Condition(s)

If Player A gets double unders or Player B gets hands connected and leg lifted off of the mat, then upper/lower switches.

2

C Grips/Leg Pummels

Player A

Player A starts with C-grips on the ankles. Wins by “upgrading” their connection from the ankles to the knees, and ultimately to the hips or torso. They must navigate the legs to find the double-under scoop and connect the hands.

Player B

Player B wins by getting both feet to the inside (re-guarding), breaking all connection and sitting up, or connecting their legs around the passer’s head/shoulder (Trap Triangle).

Win Condition(s)

If Player A connects hands around the hips or Player B re-guards, breaks all connections and sits up, or shoots up into a trap triangle, switch top and bottom.

3

Double Unders

Player A

Player A starts with double unders. Player A is trying to get past the legs and connect the hands around the upper body of the bottom player, while keeping them on their back.

Player B

Player B is fighing the connections and trying to get feet back inside, sitting up to disconnect, or hitting a Trap Triangle.

Win Condition(s)

If Player A gets hands connected around the torso OR Player B gets feet back inside, sits up, or gets a trap triangle, switch.

Entering and Solidifying the Headquarters

  1. We’ve started headquarters positions in the past from multiple open positions and from both legs inside. Today, we’ll start from a really common position I get into headquarters from, and that’s SLX. If we look at the SLX position, it’s already giving us a foot in the middle. The only deterrent to us not immediately sitting into headquarters is the angle of their hips and the foot in our hip.

  2. To stop this, we’re going to fully grab the bottom of the foot. From here, we’re going to push our hip out, into their foot, and peel the foot away. If we stay here, he can repummel back into SLX or pummel into reverse-X, so we need to stop this from happening.

  3. From here, we’re going to grip the inside of the knee and use our forearm to push their leg down, as we take a step toward their knee pit and move laterally to move them into the headquarters position.

  4. From here, work on staying stable and keeping pressure down into the hips. Not to the head and not to the floor.

2

Stack Pass

  1. From here, we’ve gone over the hip hike pass before. We also went over the over/under. One thing they may attempt to do is pull their knees to their chest to pummel their feet back inside.

  2. Instead of fighting for that space, we’re going to go with that space and use it against them.

  3. From here, we’re going to step back and get both legs on the inside. As we do that, we’re going to get a cross grip in the knee as we turn and staple the bottom leg to the mat.

  4. From here, we stack and look to finish in the leg drag OR we can split the legs and drop through with a back step.
