Main Class
Half Guard Smash
Discuss the overall objective of BJJ.
Note that the person on the bottom is supposed to keep their hips loose and their knee to their chest.
We need to get our knee into the hip. If our knee is not in the hip, then further on in the pass, we’ll run the risk of getting straight armlocked. Pin the outside hand to the mat and get the knee to the hip.
From here, our inside hand that was pinning the wrist, goes next to the head, on the same side.
Next, we’ll step into the knee shield, and our hip knee is going to come into the hip, to make their hips face the ceiling.
And next, the hand next to the head is going to walk the head over to create a curved spine.
And we’ll pause from here.
Smash to Mount/Back
From here, our arm, not next to the head, is going to push down on the knee and drive the knee over.
We’re then going to pin that wrist with our outside hand.
From here, we have two options. Either one, we drive all the way over into mount, and then crossface. Or two, they reach over to free their hand, and we take the back.
